Vintage Pattern Love: Romper

Isn't this a darling little romper? I'm always attracted to things that button on the side. This sweet pattern is from the late 40s. The thing that jumps out at me is the stereotypical boy/girl embroidery. The girl is an "angel" while the boy gets "Butch boxing gloves". I guess the sailboat was good for either. I can't quite imagine embroidering boxing gloves on my baby's outfit, but I love everything else about this!
If you like it, too, you don't have to search for the vintage pattern in the right size, because Sew Beautiful offered a pattern similar to this:
Issue 106, May/June 2006 had this side-buttoned romper as part of their "Ultimate Layette" series. I have always wanted to make this!

Ha! I agree about the boxing gloves.
I've made the SB pattern several times. It quick, easy and fun to make.

Thanks for the look at that sweet vintage pattern. I just love them. Another thanks for the Sew Beautiful version. So many designers have copied and used the vintage for inspiration. Susan VH
