This happy little quilt is one I put together for my Quilt Guild. It is my Guild's 30th anniversary this year and we are trying to donate 30 Baby Quilts to a special charity in our area. The quilts will be wrapped around a gently used baby layette and distributed to babies in need in our state.
I attended a Baby Quilt workshop in May, but I forgot to bring my camera, so I'll have to get a picture of that quilt later. At the workshop, one of our talented quilters donated a bag of these cheerful 9-patch blocks. I offered to take it home and piece a baby quilt from them. I was astounded to count 81 blocks in the bag!! I wondered what size quilt she made that had that many leftover blocks!
Anyway, I figured the blocks would stand out more if I alternated them with solid squares. I went with the dark tan so it would contrast with the white. I love the way it looks and we have enough left to do 3 more baby quilts! I will try to get another picture after someone machine quilts and binds this one.
Yesterday was my little Andy's 4th birthday, so I've been super duper busy getting ready for his party on Sunday. The weather is supposed to be nice, so I'm sure we will have fun! Back soon!

FLIP that Vote!
It's time to vote for the May Flip over at Frances Suzanne! I have strong feelings on how these contests work and I don't like it to be a popularity contest. If you have the most facebook friends, if you can post it on more forums, etc.- you win. I think people should vote based on which outfit they really love. So, I am not asking you to vote for me- just go take a look and vote for the outfit you like the best!!
There are some cute entries there!
I have my little Andy's 4th Birthday Party next weekend, so I am busy getting ready for it. Maybe I will have time to stitch him a cute shirt for the farm-themed party. Back soon!

Frozen "Elsa" Pillowcase Dress
Our little friend Elsie is having her 6th Birthday tomorrow and Elsie loves Elsa from the movie "Frozen." So, I thought I'd just whip up a quick pillowcase dress for her gift. Well, the dress definitely was "whipped up" quickly, but the embroidery was another story!
The problem was not with the design. It was amazing! Beautifully digitized and flawless! I would highly recommend Cute by Kira, which is where I bought this. She has several other nice "Cold" designs, too!
I hate to admit that my own disorganization caused the delay. I could not find the tiny scrap of skin-colored fabric I knew I had somewhere!! I just organized all my fabric into bins on a shelf in the laundry room, so that's how it got lost! I finally found it and then couldn't find my flesh-colored embroidery thread! Once I found everything, the design stitched very well! I used an organza overlay for Elsa's gown: it has shiny stars on it. Here's a close-up:
This design is the 5x7 size, but it also has 4x4 and 6x10 files. I was very excited to find this shooting star/snowflake fabric for the dress.
And here's the final product. Size 6. Made with one yard of fabric!
I wish I had put Elsa on the other side, so she was looking towards the center, but overall I love it and I hope Elsie will, too!!

Sewing School #4: Pillowcase Rompers
Yesterday my friend May came by to make a pillowcase romper for her daughter Morgan. She was a total newbie sewist and did great! We used the Bonnie Blue pattern Cassie and it went together very well, but apparently runs quite large!
This is the one May made. Morgan's favorite color is orange and we liked this bright flowery print. As you can see, the size 5 was way too big on her 3 1/2 year old. That is understandable, but...
Here's the size 12 months I made for Ella! It was even a little big on Morgan. This is supposed to be shorts.
We had a lot of fun making these, but next time I will check how the sizing runs first!
I hope my friend May will come back for another Sewing School soon!!
